Dear Friends and Supporters,
I write to seek your support before March 10, 2026. Based on the last 11 years of serving differently abled children, we crystallized Sukriti Social Foundation’s vision this year. It is our deep desire to see ‘A society where no differently abled child from an economically disadvantaged family is deprived of world class rehabilitation services or access to assistive technology.’
When we provide the best, parents stop being despondent. They realise their differently abled child can be independent.
In 2024-25, your support meant 517 children received high quality 727 orthopaedic aids and 33 children received 750 sessions of expert physiotherapy. For these children, an orthopaedic aid is like growing wings; a session is like a milestone.
Importantly, the next child is never “next year” – it is the next referral, the next family that arrives with a mix of fear and hope, the next child who needs an orthopaedic aid or consistent physiotherapy to begin making progress.
What makes the difference is not one-time help, but continuity – so a child’s progress isn’t lost between fittings, follow-ups, and sessions. To keep accepting children like these without pause, and to ensure that children already in care can continue their journey without interruption, we are seeking to raise Rs. 5,00,000 (5 lakhs) by March 20.
The progress of two tender lives captures how big a little support really is.
Devasmitha, daughter of Madhumitha, was surviving with hemiplegia, a condition that weakened the right side of her body. Walking on her toes or maintaining balance was a daily challenge. Concerned for her future, her mother brought her to Egmore Children’s Hospital in Chennai (ICH) in 2022, where neuro and orthopaedic specialists diagnosed her condition and referred her to Sukriti Social Foundation’s station in the Hospital.
With Sukriti, Devasmitha’s journey took a hopeful turn. She was provided with an Ankle Foot Orthosis (AFO) and enrolled in continuous physiotherapy sessions in our Baby Cure Centre (BCC) in Shenoy Nagar, Chennai. These interventions have brought a remarkable transformation - not only in her physical mobility but also in her confidence.
More than medical support, Devasmitha found warmth and encouragement at Sukriti. She was nurtured with love and care. The light returned to her eyes soon enough. Her steps grew steadier, her smile brighter. Today, Devasmitha walks with strength and hope. She is in Class 1 in Kendriya Vidyalaya and has won prize at the interclass running competition also.
Sai Saran, a seven-year-old boy, lives with a rare genetic disorder that had severely impacted his physical development. His mother, Mrs. Ponni, a homemaker, noticed early signs - he couldn’t sit, stand, or even hold his neck upright. Concerned and anxious, his parents sought help at Egmore Children’s Hospital in Chennai.
After a series of medical screenings, doctors diagnosed Sai Saran’s condition and recommended specialized support. Following their advice, he was referred to Sukriti Social Foundation.
At Sukriti, Sai Saran received an Above-Knee (AK) Splint and began regular physiotherapy sessions, free of cost. Within a month, he began to straighten his body on his own. Encouraged by his progress, Sukriti provided him with a walker to help him practice walking independently.
Today, Sai Saran is on a journey toward confidence and mobility. His transformation is a witness to the power of early intervention, compassionate care, and the unwavering support of his family and the Sukriti team.
If you feel moved by these journeys, please support us by March 20. Your support will help us provide timely orthopaedic aids to 100 children at ICH, Egmore and uninterrupted physiotherapy to 20 children at our Baby Cure Centre over the next two months
We know we can always count on you. If you can, share this with a friend you can count on to support this cause too.
